COMMUTE is a brand new light specifically designed to be compatible with as many cycle systems as possible. A first for Lumicycle this clever light can be powered from hub dynamos, E-Bike accessory ports, USB power banks or our own high performance battery packs. The brand new driver circuit automatically adjusts for DC voltage inputs from 6V to 17V, and users can select how much current the light will consume , toggling between 0.5A and 1A options depending on the power source the light is connected to, the light will then automatically adjust its lumen output.
Brand new optic design and the use of the very latest high performance LED’s from our partner CREE, this clever little light is still capable of generating up to 1400 Lumens. Include an enhanced side view “glow ring” and an intense “daylight” strobe mode to get you seen as well as see with, this clever little light is a great all weather, road focussed performer for use day or night.
Additional innovations include a “one touch to low” control sequence – from any continuous output mode (Low, Mid, High etc), a single press of the control switch will drop the power to the lowest setting – very useful if a car is approaching for example. We still keep the very useful “anti glare” eyelid feature, and the light can be mounted under the bars, whilst still maintaining correct switch orientation – very useful as handlebars fill up with smart phones and computers the light can just be mounted out of the way.
Have an E-Bike with a power accessory port? A mobile phone power bank? No problem this light is compatible with any DC source that can provide a minimum of 6V and 0.5A to it, with any polarity. The brand new DRV5 circuit design automatically detects the DC input voltage and will adjust the LED brightness accordingly. Commute will also work with most hub dynamo’s (check your manufacturer spec for power output), however it does not have a back up battery, so if you stop riding and the power is removed the light will go out. When you start riding again Commute will return to the power setting you had previously selected.
E-Bike battery accessory ports do not have a single standard. So depending on your battery/drive type the port will either deliver 6 or 12V and between 0.5A (500mA) and 1A (1000mA). The E-Bike user guide or drive/battery guide will confirm this. Commute can then be configured to utilise the maximum power available and covert this to drive the LED.
If Commute is connected to a Lumicycle battery it will automatically generate the maximum brightness it can; but another useful feature of being able to configure the light is for Audax riding, where absolute maximum Lumen output may not be as important as extended run times, so Commute can also be configured to adjust its output to change from “output priority” to “run time priority” for extremely long run times.
